  • Education: Grade 12 (NQF level 4) plus a Degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
  • Additional Qualification: An Honours Degree would be an advantage.
  • Residency: Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.

Primary Function:

The intern will be responsible for measuring quantities when Interim Payment Certificates are prepared and monitoring invoices regarding claims from the Implementing Agent.

Key Learning Areas:

  • Infrastructure Construction Management: Manage activities relating to infrastructure construction in accordance with the City’s policies and guidelines.
  • Reporting: Prepare quarterly and monthly reports on transport infrastructure construction projects.
  • Financial Monitoring: Monitor the implementation of financial controls and procedures and provide information to support financial planning sequences.
  • Quality Control: Ensure quality deliverables and formulate the scope of work for projects.
  • Design Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret design and detailed drawings from architects and other engineers.
  • Cost Monitoring: Monitor costs to ensure deliverables are completed within the stipulated budget.
  • Skills Development: Enhance report writing and presentation skills.
  • Progress Tracking: Assist in ensuring deliverables are completed within specified timelines.
  • Performance Monitoring: Ensure progress is being earned for the expected cost.
  • Risk Management: Proactively manage foreseen project risks as necessary.
