FNB customers are set to benefit from a windfall of 3.3 billion Megabytes of data as a reward for using the bank’s digital platforms. That equates to over 3 million Gigabytes of data that will be given away to customers.
Dr Christoph Nieuwoudt, CEO of FNB Consumer says the reward will go a long way to helping customers save on data costs over the festive period.
“The festive season period is characterised by a culture of spending and for some consumers, a large portion of their spend goes towards data, hence getting this benefit could help such customers to keep their costs within budget.”
In addition to being rewarded for using the banking App, customers will also be rewarded for taking up any of the newly launched ConeXis smartphone deals or qualifying FNB banking products. The data can only be used on the FNB Connect network and will be free of charge for customers.
Dr Nieuwoudt says the incentive is part of their continued drive to help customers embrace the benefits of banking digitally and using the right banking products. He says FNB wants the App to be the main gateway to its banking products as it gives customers much more control.
“Banking through the App allows customers to exercise full control over their banking and telco. Customers can easily process transactions in seconds at a fraction of the cost. They can manage their SIMs as well as the usage of data, voice and sms from a single digital platform.”
The bank’s move also signals its intent to make FNB Connect a telco provider of choice and their strategy already has a head start with over half a million SIMs already active of the network. In September, FNB Connect introduced the latest ConeXis X2 and A2 smartphones with competitive packages to advance the bank’s digital migration strategy.
FNB customers can pick up Connect SIMs and packages at any of its branches or order them from the FNB online banking platform without additional documentary requirements.
The data incentive will be available from 1 November 2017 until 31 January 2018. For more information on the data give away, consumers can visit the FNB website from 1 November 2017 to get the breakdown of qualifying telco packages, banking products and transactions.
