East London – After five years in the stand-up comedy arena, the award-winning comedian formally (and informally) known as Prins, is finally putting on his first one-man show. And what better way to debut his show, Unnecessary, than going back to where it all started… to his home town of East London! The show will take place at The Guild Theatre on the 26th of April.
Unnecessary is a comedic outlook into the life experiences and stories of Prins and the general ‘unnecessary’ things in life. We all have things, ideas and situations which are so ‘unnecessary’. The show features his best comedy jokes that people have come to love – with a light sprinkle of the ‘unnecessary’.
His comedy can be described as ‘sometimes naughty, but nice’ and is suitable for the whole family. The audience can expect a good, solid laugh, whether they’re laughing about a politician, a grandmother or something completely ‘unnecessary’.
As one of SA’s hottest up and coming comedians, Prins has particularly excelled since moving to Johannesburg in 2013. In the past year, he has won several comedy competitions, in particular the Jokenation International Comedy Talent Search, which gave him the opportunity of performing at the Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland and winning the Parker’s Comedy Club ‘Comic-kazi’ Competition.
He has shared the stage with the likes of Loyiso Gola, Mark Banks, Chris Forrest, Mark Lottering and many others. He is an active performer and can be seen regularly performing on stand-up comedy stages around the country. He has also made a few meaningful television appearances and has directed three successful collaboration comedy shows at the National Arts Festival in 2014 and 2015.
East London – be waiting with open arms, Prins is coming home!
Unnecessary is playing at The Guild Theatre (c/o Union Avenue and Dawson Road, Selborne, East London) on the 26th April 2016. Tickets cost R80 through Computicket or R100 at the door.
