Debonairs Pizza celebrates the launch of its 600th restaurant
7 800kg dough, 161 280 tomatoes, 2 760kg mozzarella and in excess of 60kg origanum will be used to celebrate South Africa’s iconic pizza brand, Debonairs Pizza’s 600th restaurant opening.
On Monday, 28 November 2016, local restaurants will give away 100 free pizzas in celebration of its 600th restaurant opening in its 25th year. The first 100 patrons at each restaurant who purchase a Real Deal Pizza will receive a second promotional Real Deal pizza and a 500ml coke free.
“We want everyone to be able to share amazing moments and our much loved taste wherever they are, which we accomplished by introducing the Real Deal promotion that has made pizza accessible to the broader South African market. To better service existing and new emerging markets has been the driving force behind growing our footprint to this milestone, and why we keep opening new doors,” says Linda Sinclair, Chief Marketing Officer for Famous Brands.
“We are honoured by the support that got us to this momentous occasion, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with all our customers that made it possible.”
Founded in 1991, this brand has grown from a single outlet in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal to a network of restaurants extending across Africa as far as the United Arab Emirates. Now, its 600th restaurant will officially be opened on Saturday, 26 November 2016, in Botshabelo near Bloemfontein, Free State.
“When we noticed the commercial development in Botshabelo, we immediately reached out to Famous Brands to open what would have been our first Debonairs Pizza franchise, but we couldn’t wait that long. During the mall’s construction, we opened Debonairs Lochlogan in 2015, and Debonairs Willows in July 2016,” says franchisee, Tumi Mohlahlo. “Now, we’re excited to be part of this major milestone, which is testament to the strength of this brand, and the affinity it enjoys from our loyal customers.”
When talking about the future, Sinclair says; “Constantly pioneering and innovating the pizza category will remain our driving force.”
The quick service restaurant was the first to introduce free delivery and online ordering, improved on it with their Hot or Not Dot and Acutemp delivery bags; and single-handedly changed the meaning of pizza with speciality pizza innovations like the Triple-Decker®, Double-Stack®, Crammed-Crust®, Filla® and Pop-Itz®.
