Cape Town – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) will be carrying out essential road maintenance for the next four months on the N2 near Houw Hoek.
Mr Kobus van der Walt, SANRAL’s Regional Manager in the Western Cape said the stabilisation of slide slopes could no longer be postponed. Stabilisation measures are needed to ensure that the roadside slopes do not slip into the road during the coming winter months, which could result in the N2 being closed.
Construction work is currently being carried out on a section of the road about 1 km west of the Houw Hoek Hotel and farm-stall. Unfortunately due to the nature of the work, stop/go measures will have to be put into place for periods during the day as and when required.
Van der Walt says the contractors will do their utmost best to minimise traffic disruptions and the road will be opened during the Easter holidays.
He says the contract programme aims to complete the works by mid-May. SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused and respectfully requests road users to be patient and keep to the posted speed limits.
