For the third year in succession Pam Golding Properties Goodwood office in Cape Town is running a Garden Competition in the suburb as a means of creating greater awareness of the added enjoyment and value an appealing garden adds to a property. It also helps promote indigenous plant use and water-wise gardening to conserve water.
Says Micheal Dos Santos, area principal for Pam Golding Properties Goodwood: “This event has proven so successful we are running it for the third year, with prizes for winners and runners-up in the different categories for Large Gardens, Medium or Small Gardens, and Back Gardens.
“We also give away a monthly spot prize from random draws in September, October and November, leading up to the on-site judging of entrants gardens during the first week in December (2016).
“Then there is the final prize giving in December to the winners and runners-up in each category, with prizes including seeds from Mayfair, compost and potting soil from Reliance, among others, , while each contestant receives a six-month subscription to Garden and Home Magazine and gift pack from the publishers.”
Judging criteria for the competition include design and layout, landscaping, plant use and choice, maintenance and condition and general considerations which include bonus points for the use of indigenous plants and water wise gardening methods.
