New International Short Film Festival to boost Local Industry

By in Art, Culture, Entertainment on May 28, 2016

Twin Hearts Production and Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel are hosting the Kleinkaap Short Film Festival (KSFF) in South Africa. This Festival is aimed to showcase local and international filmmaking in short format.

KSFF is a gateway for audiences to unearth the real world of film that occurs beyond regular film exhibitions.

Moreover KSFF mainly supports outstanding and creative stories that have not received deserved exposure in South Africa. KSFF considers narrative, documentary and animated short films (30 min and less), and in multiple genres from around the world. The KSFF is hosted in Centurion, South Africa. A vibrant city nestled minutes between Johannesburg and Pretoria. The selected short films will be judged and selected by a South African panel. The Kleinkaap Short Film Festival’s Official Selections will be screened at the Film Festival early August 2016.

There are KSFF awards for international and local shorts such as Best Film, Director, Cinematography and many more. The submission deadline is 1 July 2016 and South Africans can enter their short films for free.

Three South African women, namely Mari Molefe van Heerden, Keyuri Naidoo and Reine Swart, are organizing the KSFF. All three these ladies have a footprint in the Film industry and hope to assist fellow filmmakers to grow.

These women have been a part of both local and international productions such as the popular TV Soap 7de laan, Villa Rosa, Dominion, various Feature Films and other.

They identified the lack of opportunity for Indie Filmmakers in South Africa to present their work and network in Gauteng.

The KSFF is a wonderful opportunity for Filmmakers to showcase their work and meet people in the Film Industry in order to broaden their horizons.
