The Grain SA NAMPO Harvest Day is one of the largest agricultural exhibitions under private ownership in the southern hemisphere, and takes place on May 15–18 at Nampo Park, Bothaville. This year AutoTrader, South Africa’s leading online marketplace for new and used agricultural vehicles, steps on board as the digital media partner.
NAMPO’s roots stretch back to 1967, where 200 exhibitors gathered to form a strictly maize producers event. Today over 650 exhibitors form the core of the festival annualy, with a focus spread across the agricultural board and increasingly, toward the growing role that digital has to play in the industry.
“South Africa’s agricultural producers’ openness to new technology is one of the main reasons why the country can claim to provide sustainable food production,” says Mr Jannie de Villiers, CEO of Grain SA. “’Efficiency with technology’ is this year’s theme, and it is very popular among producers.”
The roots of AutoTrader’s involvement in agriculture stretches back to the days where used Caterpillar tractors were listed in the original AutoTrader print edition, “Our research shows that the agriculture buyer and seller is quickly moving into the digital space” comments Lynch. “Our AutoTrader Commercial site already records over 140 000 monthly visits, and we’re looking to introduce more of the community to the benefits of using our online offering. The timing of this year’s theme makes supporting this event a perfect fit for us”.
In the spirit of technological efficiency, AutoTrader will be on hand throughout the festival to provide exhibitors with insights on the modern digital consumer and how this market is adopting a multimedia approach to the buying and selling of farming equipment – Visit us at Stand 15 in the Caltex Hall
AutoTrader account managers will be available to offer direct assistance to agricultural machinery dealers looking to find their own place in the new digital marketplace, and AutoTrader Commercial will be ready to help drive digital engagement and increase brand awareness for exhibitors.
The company will also provide mobile charging stations, ensuring consumers and dealers alike stay connected at all times over the weekend.
“Grain SA’s Harvest Day offers producers a unique platform to network with the agricultural industry’s top role players, strengthen friendships and relationships in a peaceful farming atmosphere,” said Lynch. “It is an honour for us to be involved.”
