More FNB branches to extend business hours and open on Sundays

JohannesburgAs of 1 July 2016, select FNB branches beyond Gauteng will extend their operating hours and will be open for business on Sunday. This follows the bank’s decision in 2015 to extend business operating hours in select branches across Gauteng, the extended hours schedule is now being rolled out nationally in branches where the need has been required.

Lee-Anne van Zyl, CEO of FNB Points of Presence, says “Due to the positive feedback received from customers the initiative is being expanded to all other provinces across the country. The extension of banking hours is primarily aimed at ensuring that FNB customers enjoy flexible banking hours and spend less time queuing in a branch. Since the extension of hours in Gauteng we have seen a significant decrease in the average queuing time within branches”.

“Not all branches will extend hours or operate on Sundays, this largely because we focused on areas where there’s demand and responded to match banking needs in specific locations”.

Branches that operate on Sundays will not have teller services available; however, FNB has deployed staff on site that will assist customers via the bank’s digital platforms, such as the FNB Banking App or FNB Online and for cash transactions customers can use ATM & ADT machines. The ADT device also offers a host of functionalities, including cheque deposits, deposits into eWallet, purchasing of prepaid, transfers and payments, opening Savings and Investment Accounts and the option to apply for a loan.

FNB has enabled Free Wi-Fi at 187 of its branches across the country, and customers can connect to the internet while they are in the branch.

“Branch banking remains an important banking channel for our customers, but we also want to give them the option to transact and bank digitally. Over time the number of branches that offer Wi-Fi will be extended,” adds van Zyl
