Argentinian-born singer, composer and keyboard player Muriel Marco is set to dazzle Cape Town audiences with a much-anticipated musical showcase on Saturday June 25th, at The Theatre @ The Rockwell in The Mother City.
Known for her jazz and alternative musical styles, Marco is finally ready to impress her Cape Town fans with her latest offering: Muriel Marco – No Direction (ND) Project.
Having performed as part of international group Tucan Tucan, as well as releasing her very own music, the Muriel Marco – ND Project boasts a unique performance style, which sees Muriel composing and playing music with no boundaries regarding genre and instrumentation.
Marco, says she is excited to take to the stage to finally bring her vision for the this new and exciting musical showcase in Cape Town.
‘I’m thrilled to bring this dream to fruition because it is a musical project that I have envisioned for many years. A true reflection of my musical journey,” admits Marco.
The performance will showcase a number of music genres, such as tango, chararera, bolero, a Toba lullaby accompanied by the skillful musicians Ronan Skillen (tablas), Shaun Johannes (bass) and Justin Bellairs (saxophone).
Guest artist Keketso Bolofo will join in on Mbira and African Percussion.
At 19 years of age, Marco embarked on a journey from Argentina to South Africa to study English where she automatically fell in love with Southern African music styles. It’s these styles, together with her love for Jazz and World Music, that inspired Marco to develop the Muriel Marco – ND Project.
Marco, who describes this project as “an inwards discovery and a soul free discovery”, says fans can expect “a vibrant and original performance that will ensure a unique experience”.
“Cape Town music lovers will be transported into my world in which creativity, unheard sounds and feelings collide.”
