International Cupcake for Breakfast Day: The Sweetest Way to Save a Life
It is estimated that currently less than half of children with cancer in South Africa are diagnosed, and many of those who are diagnosed are in advanced stage of illness,1 while chances of surviving Childhood Cancer may be as high as 77%, if the cancer is detected early.
To bring hope one cupcake at a time, Mugg & Bean is hosting its annual Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer initiative in support of Cupcakes of HOPE this September.
Cupcakes of HOPE focuses on creating awareness around children with cancer, the early warning signs associated with this devastating disease and raising funds for families in need of medical assistance.
Mugg & Bean will be adding lemon meringue cupcakes to its menu for the month of September 2016, offering consumers a simple and sweet way to help change and save lives.
“Each of our 190 restaurants nationwide, will donate all proceeds generated from the cupcake sales to raise funds that will help pay for expensive treatments, and assist in improving the general wellbeing of the affected families,” says Lee-ann Cullingworth, Marketing Executive for Mugg & Bean.
The initiative further aims to celebrate the thousands affected by cancer and the people they’ve inspired.
Anyone can show their support by uploading a picture that displays their cancer hero’s name written on one hand and a cupcake in the other, using the hashtag #CupcakeForMyHero to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
Mugg & Bean has been a proud supporter of Cupcake for Kids with Cancer since 2011. Following the 2015 campaign, Mugg & Bean handed over a cheque for R100,000 and are aiming to grow the donation this year.
The initiative will kick off on International Cupcake for Breakfast Day on Thursday, 01 September 2016, at the start of International Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
