By in Agriculture, Environment, Water on February 23, 2016

During times of drought, every drop counts – so drop off some water at the Liberty Midlands Mall drop off point until Sunday, March 20th, 2016.  Look out for the pull up banners at the Info Desk within the mall, which is where the drop off area is.

General Manager, Muhammad Varachia, says that, “even though some rain has fallen along the East Coast of KZN, many water starved communities are still in dire straits. With this in mind, the Liberty Midlands Mall will launch “H2O to Go” with Operation Hydrate today (Wednesday, February 24th) and is appealing to everyone to donate bottles of water for communities in need.”

A donation of any size or quantity will be accepted, although 5L sealed bottled water is preferred. Donations can also be made to Operation Hydrate – SMS WATER to 42530 to donate R30 or alternatively donate to ABSA – Branch code: 632005.  Account no: 9314587739 (Ref: Name and Tel no.) “Liberty Midlands Mall will also be contributing, by donating over 1 250 Litres of water as well,” adds Varachia.

On Saturday, February 27th, between 10am and 12 noon, Damon Beard from East Coast Radio’s Drive Show will drop in to meet and greet shoppers and collect water.

Varachia added that the current drought was a reminder that water is a precious resource and that everyone needed to conserve it even in times of plenty. He encouraged everyone to become water wise and to implement water saving measures both now and for the future.
