Fuchs Lubricants South Africa has joined forces with Team GIBS ‘riding for a purpose’, to raise funds to assist underprivileged, orphaned and vulnerable learners in child-headed households at Olivienhoutbosch school to access tertiary education.

Team GIBS, a student driven initiative founded in 2014 by GIBS MBA students, uses national cycle events to raise awareness and funding for social causes.

In this year’s 94.7 Cycle Challenge, the team intends to raise R300 000 towards a scholarship fund to help vulnerable learners from Olivienhoutbosch School further their studies post Matric.

More than 60 GIBS students, alumni, staff members and friends will be riding the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge and committing to a three-year goal to establish a fund to ensure that these young people further their studies.

The fund will assist students with application fees, partial cover for tuition fees and help with access to bursaries. Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa (CAFSA) will manage the fund.

Fuchs Lubricants SA MD, Paul Deppe said, “Creating a future for the country’s next generations starts with big organisations helping young people achieve their goals and making their dreams come true.”

The initiative is a spear headed by different role players including, GIBS, the official corporate sponsor; Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa (CAFSA); and Adolf Makgatho, Team GIBS founder and former GIBS MBA student.
