This came after the Vice-Chancellor of the NWU, Prof Dan Kgwadi, invited religious leader, Alumni of the University, government officials and business people to a stakeholder dinner with management at the Mmabatho Palms on 8 March 2016.

The aim of the dinner was to introduce and explain the new strategy of the NWU to the attendees and also give feedback on the events of the past few weeks. During a question and answer session it came out very strongly that the University means a lot to the community and that a stakeholder relations forum be established who would work together with management to address the challenges of the University.

In demonstrating their commitment they decided amongst themselves to make a financial contribution to the needy and deserving students of the Mafikeng Campus. Pledges varied from R10 000, R20 000 and R50 000. In thanking the audience, Prof Kgwadi said that he was speechless and very touched by this gesture.
