Anglo American and UNAIDS launch the #ProTEST HIV Global Campaign

Anglo American is proud to be one of the leading private sector sponsors of the 21st International AIDS Conference, where we will play a major role in helping to find the best mix of solutions, and re-energise participants’ resolve to end this pandemic by 2030.

To mark our 30 year efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS, we have collaborated with UNAIDS on the #ProTEST HIV global campaign, which aims to create awareness and encourage everyone to know their HIV status.

The ProTEST HIV campaign also aims to help with achieving UNAIDS’s 90-90-90 goals by 2020, which are: for 90% of all people to know their HIV status, for 90% of those who are HIV-positive to be on antiretroviral therapy (ART) and for 90% of those infected to have an undetectable viral load.

We are encouraging people to get involved in the ProTEST HIV campaign by taking a selfie and uploading it to their Twitter, Facebook or Instagram accounts using the hashtags #ProTESTHIV and #GenEndIt, to spread the word.

We would like to invite you, the media to join us at the launch of this global campaign, which will take place on Monday, 18 July 2016 at the Durban International Convention Centre.

The launch will principally feature Anglo American SA’s Executive Head, Andile Sangqu, and UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director, Dr. Luiz Loures.
