A royal family f(R)un-day
It’s time to lace up and run like a royal with the return of the King Price Irene Race on Saturday, 29 October 2016, in the beautiful streets of Southdowns, Pretoria.
Hosted by King Price Insurance, in collaboration with Irene Athletics Club, the third and final leg of the 2016 Irene Triple Challenge (ITC) will attract an estimated 5500 enthusiasts to hit the road through the Irene Dairy Farm, the scenic Irene Golf Course and surroundings.
The King Price Irene Race is more than a run, it’s an entire family-fun day, offering distances that accommodate even the youngest of athletes, fully supervised kiddies entertainment, and food stalls for the prince and the pauper, while Redbull will be giving away wings.
The King will also bestow honour on deserving participants, presenting several spot prizes, while the dress like a king and selfie competitions will crown the best-dressed athlete and selfie-queen (or king) – honouring the rulers with a whopping R 5000 cash prize each.
No matter what your fitness level, there’s a race for everyone! Let your little ones join the 1km kiddies’ race and enter the 5km fun run, the 10km less-fun run, or the 21km super-serious run.
Athletes who entered for the ITC and who completed the other two legs (Spar Lantern 10km and Clover Irene Spring Race 21.1km) will receive their medals, shield and special t-shirt after completing the 21km race.
“The race represents what we’re all about – mixing business with pleasure,” says Gideon Galloway, King Price CEO and Founder. “We’ve built a family where we never take ourselves too seriously, but take what we do very seriously. We believe when you add an element of fun, the journey and the reward of finishing a race for instance, is so much greater. With our involvement in the race, we want to share this philosophy.”
