67 minutes of love was shared this Mandela Day
To honour Madiba’s 67 years of service to humanity, ABI Bottling, one of the merging entities of Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), partnered with Radio 2000 and Channel Africa to celebrate 67 minutes of community service by feeding the homeless and needy people living in and around the Johannesburg CBD yesterday.
Dubbed “67 minutes of love”, the initiative started in the Pretoria CBD in 2011 and has since gained momentum with more sponsors coming on board each year. This year, the ABI team spent their day giving back to the homeless and needy in Joubert Park (Johannesburg).
“Together with two media houses, we have donated over 200 blankets and food hampers as well as feeding the homeless. In addition, the team rolled up their sleeves to clean up the park, with cleaning also extended to the nearby Lapeng Child and Family centre as well as the community clinic,” says Gaopaleloe Mothoagae, Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa’s Sustainability Manager.
This is just one of many ways that corporates have joined together to make a difference in communities this Mandela Day.
